A New Year

We just celebrated our first year as a non profit 501 3C.  Looking back over the year, there have been many ups and downs, but a lot learned and many improvements made.  We want to take a moment to thank those of you who have emotionally, monetarially and/or through donations of goods supported us through the past 12 months.  We hope and pray that you will continue to do what you do, because without all of the help we certainly would not be able to do what we do.

A year ago, we had 72 cats and kittens in the shelter and I was worried about caring for them all – at this time we have 150 and I am doubly worried about making sure each of them is happy, healthy and content.  It is an awesome responsibility and I thank each and every volunteer who bundles up and treks out to the shelter to clean, feed, love and spend time with these amazing animals.  If you spend one day at SART, your attitude about caring for the homelss animals will change drastically.

We hope to continue to improve our facilities.  We hope to be able to provide all the care needed for each animal.  We hope to continue to reach out to the public and educate about the importance of spaying or neutering your cats, keeping them safe, and continuing to love and care for them as they grow older in your families.  If you just spend 10 minutes each day with an older cat, brushing and talking with it, spending time playing with a string with it, and making sure that it has that type of interaction, it will amaze you how much you get back in return.

Cats are not disposable – they are vibrant, loving, caring companions that will be loyal to you for many years – all they want is food, shelter, attention and companionship.  Try it – you will be amazed!

So, again, thank you for supporting SART, in whatever capacity you have done – we have acquired many angels looking over us doing what they can do to make SART a better place.  Together we will grow, learn and continue to end the homelessness of strays.  They deserve at least that.
