News at SART

We had 4 more wonderful adoptions over the weekend – made our 400th adoption and moved the total to 70 to go to meet the 100 cat challenge.  Please know that even though we are excited about adopting our residents, we are careful to whom they go – our homes have to be loving, caring homes.  If you could provide that, won’t you consider welcoming a new member into your family?

Our washer broke again!  We have gone through so many dryers and two washers at SART.  It is because I think they run almost 24/7 to keep up with the amount of laundry we have each day.  We would love for a set of industrial sized machines to fall out of the sky onto SART property!  It would be so welcome, and not something we can afford at this time.  It is on our wish list!

Donations are down.  Kroger cards are not being refilled.  Money is desperately needed to keep us able to get the kitties the medical care they need.  If you haven’t loaded your Kroger card recently, please do so.  If you would like to make a donation, it is so easy.  You can go through paypal, or send a check.  Remember, anything is everything in the life and running of a shelter.

We figure we go through 100 pounds of food a day and approximately the same in litter for our residents.  Of course, that counts the ingredients of our SART porridge that they all get in the morning.  To make it, and to encourage shy, new ones to eat, and to sneak meds into the untrusting, we use canned food.  We have found that Friskies Liver and Chicken Pate is the one that most will eat.  If you want to donate a case or two of that, we would appreciate it – We go through a case in two days.

We need hard working, understanding, cat loving, detail oriented volunteers – our numbers have changed so much in the past year with cats and volunteers – we would love to have some volunteers fall from the sky as well – if the above words describes you, would you consider volunteering?  Many hands make light work!

Our brothers are still in search of the perfect home.  Their names are Toby and Levi.  They are so handsome.  One is black and the other is black and white.  Potential adopters see that they are black, and pass right by them.  That is such a sad thing.  Black cats are so ignored for adoption.    They are the sweetest guys – and they so want a home but they want to be together.  See the story about them titled “So Full” and their picture in the previous post about them.  I think they would be the most cuddly, loving, well behaved – they look at me with such anticipation – I tell them their perfect home will come.

Gabby – our poor sweetheart who is allergic to everything under the sun – would love to be in a home where their are no other animals, where she could sit and look out a window and enjoy the fresh breezes, and would be safe from the elements that cause her so much damage.  We have her in her own cage to protect herself from exposures, wash her bedding in hypoallergenic detergent, she eats special food out of glass bowls, and at this point, is doing pretty well.  She is such a friendly, sweet cat.  If anyone has a home like I described and would love a companion cat, please contact me!

Felicia – a beautiful long haired Siamese with blue eyes – her family decided not to keep her, so she is with us – she is so quiet, shy and tidy – but so beautiful – she is definitely a piece of art for the quiet home with someone to love her.

Please contact SART through the contact page if you are the one for any of the situations I mentioned above – chilly weather is coming and we need to keep finding those great homes for our kitties that need to be moved to warmer conditions – maybe your home is their home!
